On Saturday, November 12, 2016, guests of the participating inns are invited to join Colonel and Mrs. Chamberlain for lunch at the Dobbin House, beginning at 11:30 a.m., followed by a presentation and then a battlefield walk led by members of the Confederation of Union Generals, aka COUG.
Colonel and Mrs. Chamberlain are portrayed by Ted and Faye Chamberlain of Saint Joseph, Michigan who are members of the COUG group. Ted’s program last year on the topic of the 150th anniversary of the surrender at Appomattox was memorable and this year’s program with both Joshua and Fannie speaking will be equally informative. For the past twenty years Ted has indulged his lifetime love of American history by portraying his cousin, General Joshua Chamberlain, both of whom have enjoyed careers as soldier, clergyman, professor and businessman. Both Ted and Faye have completed graduate degrees and both share a passion for history told accurately and passionately.
Please view the participating bed and breakfasts at www.gettysburgbedandbreakfast.com. The cost for the luncheon program is $40 per person for adults; $30 for children. Ted and Faye are especially eager to pass on their passion to young people so children are encouraged to attend. A limited number of tickets are available to those not staying at a bed and breakfast. For more information please phone Eileen Hoover at the Lightner Farmhouse Bed and Breakfast, 717-337-9508.
