The Inns of the Gettysburg Area invite you to a history filled day on the battlefield and at the Dobbin
House for dinner on Saturday, March 18, as we walk the Battlefield with two Union generals and one
famous priest all of whom who led the Irish troops during the Battle of Gettysburg.
Begin the Irish event at 1 PM at the Father Corby statue on the Battlefield where we will meet Father
Corby himself, portrayed by Bill Vosseler, along with Brig. General Henry J. Hunt as portrayed by John
Mills, and General Hancock as portrayed by Randy Ferenac. All three are members of COUG, the
Confederation of Union Generals and they will lead us across the Wheatfield ending at the Celtic Cross
monument. Hearing the story of the Irish troops directly from men who were involved will be a
memorable event for both adults and children.
Later in the day we will meet at the Dobbin House restaurant on Steinwehr Avenue at 6:30 PM for
dinner with the Generals and Father Corby, with a history program following the meal. The cost for the
day is $50 for adults, $40 for children under the age of 9. Click here to make overnight reservations with one of the fourteen member inns. Most of the inns offer additional packages and have unique history pertaining to the Civil War. St. Patrick’s Day weekend is the perfect time to visit one of Gettysburg’s Irish pubs and enjoy the music and culture of the Irish.
